Have U Heard was invited to attend the celebration of the grand re-opening of Bloomingdale’s at Roosevelt Field in Westbury, New York.
As part of the celebration Taryn Rose and Elle Magazine hosted a personal appearance by Carol Alt.

Ms. Alt, a native Long Islander, is known as a model, actress, author and recent contestant on Donald Trump’s 2008 TV show The Celebrity Apprentice. Shoppers who purchased a pair of Taryn Rose shoes received a special gift bag including Carol’s book “This Year’s Model.  In addition, Bloomingdale’s donated 10% of the sales from Taryn Rose shoes purchased that day to the Tony Alt Memorial Foundation.  Carol’s brother, Tony Alt, died unexpectedly in 2005 and the Foundation was created to raise funds for underprivileged children to continue their education.

As an added bonus – I had the opportunity to speak with Carol.  Carol was a pleasure to speak to – warm, friendly, outgoing and down to earth.  Ms. Alt, who was studying law on Long Island, started modeling because she wanted to get away from Long Island after a boyfriend broke up with her (I am sure he is still kicking himself for that move).
From modeling Carol went on to television, movies, exercise videos, her own skin care line, and author of both fiction and 2 books on raw food, ‘Eating in the Raw’ and  “The Raw 50′.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

Have U Heard:  You are a model, actress, author, spokesperson – if you had to choose one which would you choose??

Carol Alt:  I couldn’t.  The reason I started doing other things was to not pigeon hole myself.

Have U Heard:   If you had to describe yourself in three words – what would they be??

Carol Alt:  (with a laugh) Totally Crazy – I could do it in two.

Have U Heard:  What time in your life has been the best for you – your 20′s, 30′s…

Carol Alt:  I’m the most balanced, I’m doing the most amazing work, the most creative work right now.  I’ve got the history that I’m a famous model, now the world’s my oyster.  I can do whatever I want.

What is coming up for Carol Alt??  Carol just started to film a show for Bravo –  The Secret Lives of Supermodels.  In this show, Carol Alt, Maggie Rizer, Frederique Van Der Wal,  Mariel Hemingway and Patricia Velasquez play a group of close friends that come together to deal with work and relationships outside of the modeling world.  At this time Carol was not sure of the exact start date – we will keep you posted.

Have U Heard wishes Carol success with her new show – although something tells me it is sure to be a hit!!
