American Idol went from the Top 9 to the Top 8 tonight, or at least it was supposed to. The show opened with the contestants singing an amazing melody of songs penned by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Ryan Seacrest gave the remaining 3 female contestants the great news that they were safe.
Singer-songwriter Jason Derulo gave an energetic performance of his hit single In My Head. Jason was signed last year by AI judge Kara Dioguardi and just released his self-titled debut album.
Next, David Archuleta from season 7, beautifully sang Imagine while playing the piano. He let everyone know that he has a new album and single coming out very soon.
After David performed the bottom 3 were revealed: Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynch and Andrew Garcia.
Last to perform was Rihanna with the debut of her new single Rock Star 101. The pop-star wore a sexy skintight black latex bodysuit as the audience went crazy for her new song.
In a surprising turn of events, Michael Lynch, a fan favorite, placed in the bottom two – along with Andrew Garcia. Shocking the crowd - Andrew Gracia was sent back to the group and was safe for yet another week. Michael Lynch sang for his life. After his stellar performance, Simon said, “it was unanimous Mike will be back next week!!”
I was on the edge of my seat last night in one of the most suspenseful final moments of
the season.
Big Mike is all heart and one of the best of the guys. I don’t get how people vote…are
they all 12? It would seem so.
He sang his heart out and got a save…deserved. Panning his wife only added to the
suspense.
I am now completely hooked for the season. It’s not the most talented group but I am
liking the dynamics and genuinely can’t wait till next week.
We have to remember, its not like Survivor…we dont vote people OFF the show, we vote FOR WHO WE LIKE THE BEST…so simply, Big Mike and Andrew received the least amount of votes…I didnt vote this week, I feel responsible. Wonder if my one vote would have made a difference. Im glad the judges kept him on, but I also hate that they had to use the save so soon. I hope it wasnt a bad decision in the end.
David Archuleta was amazing again last night on American Idol with his singing of “Imagine”…I can still remember the first time I heard David sing this song on Season 7. David looked and sounded amazing. I can’t wait for his single to be released and hopefully he does another solo tour. I’m also excited to read his book that will be coming out on June 1 called “Cords of Strength.” David has such a great stage presence and I love watching him perform and of course hearing “the voice!”
What did big Mike do that was so bad that he would get booted?
:O I couldn’t believe that Tim fled from the bottom three this week and we found Kelly and BIG Mike both there. Andrew… I’ve thought he should’ve been in the bottom three awhile back because he just hasn’t brought it :/
