‘The Good Wife’ continued right where it left off last week, with Peter making the decision to go after Alicia, who just walked out on him.
Knowing the repercussions of their father’s actions, Grace and Zach spring into action to prevent him from heading back to jail. As the electronic monitoring alarm blares in the background, Grace tries her best to cover for Peter when the dreaded phone call from the sergeant comes through. When claiming Peter’s in the shower doesn’t work, Zach grabs his skateboard and smashes the alarm. With seconds to spare, Peter and Alicia rush back inside to find their son sprawled out on the floor, claiming a skateboarding trick gone wrong.
Once the cops arrive, it’s a flurry of activity. Peter’s lawyer sends an associate to do damage control while the police question a neighbor who was at the scene. Knowing what will happen if he admits Peter was out of the apartment, Amal runs with the story given by the Florrick children that Peter was in the shower.
No good deed goes unpunished as Alicia finds the police back in the building the following morning, but this time they aren’t there for her husband, they’re back to question Amal on a different matter relating to an identity theft ring, which they believe he’s either a part of, or has knowledge of.
Back at the law offices of Stern, Lockhart and Gardner, tensions run high as Alicia and Cary are down to the wire on proving themselves for the junior associate position. When Amal and his mother, Simran, show up at the office, Alicia, feeling responsible for Amal being questioned in the first place, agrees to help. As a result of Amal’s lack of cooperation, Simran is taken away by immigration and is being deported back to India.
Alicia and Kalinda work together as they try to get the information the feds want in exchange for Simran’s release. They suspect Amal’s bosses at the travel agency to be working with someone even bigger. As Amal downloads files from their computer, someone tips the brothers off to the fact they’re being watched. Before the travel agency is swarmed with police, Kalinda grabs a box she saw one of the brothers hide before leaving and finds blue sapphire gems inside.
Going off this lead, Kalinda and Cary investigate the origination of the box and realize that Amal’s sister Frida is the courier/go between. Knowing what she’s done was wrong Frida sacrifices herself in order to save her mother. She faces jail time and Simran is released and finally issued a visa.
On the homefront, Alicia wants to restore some order back in their lives, and after being approached by Gerald Kozko, whom she made it clear to that she would not be his go between with her husband, asks Peter to lay everything out on the table. Peter tries to explain the lines between “fuzzy” and “illegal” activities. He also tells Alicia that he wants to run again, this time doing it right, and wants her onboard with him.
Alicia separately talks with her children, letting them know her and Peter are working on their relationship, and asks that they all lay out the truth since she doesn’t want any more lying. What she doesn’t expect is to be on the hotseat herself when Grace questions who Will is and admits to overhearing her mom’s phone conversation (aired in an earlier episode). Alicia gives her children an answer but cuts truth telling short.
As Alicia wraps up another long day at the office, she arrives home to a news report that is sure to impact her family; Gerald Kozko has gone missing and it’s presumed that he’s committed suicide. Stay tuned for next week’s The Good Wife to watch as the story unravels.
