Exclusive Interview: Carrie Ann Inaba Speaks About Her Cats, Jerry Springer and More

Posted by June 3rd, 2010 | 1 Comments »

I had the pleasure of interviewing Carrie Ann Inaba, well-known as the celebrity judge on Dancing With the Stars. The reason I interviewed Carrie Ann is because she owns five cats, and will be appearing on Cat Chow’s Housecat Housecall television show on Saturday, June 19th on the Animal Planet.   Housecat Housecall premiers Saturday, June 5th and will run this summer on Saturdays at 10:30am E/P or Sundays at 8am E/P.

Carrie Ann was very friendly and nice and did not hold back about her love for cats, singing and her favorite celebrity on Dancing With the Stars.

Carrie Ann has five cats – three are hers and two are her boyfriends (who she lives with).  I asked Carrie Ann how many cats are too many??

Carrie Ann responded by saying,

“For me….I would have said two.  After two is too many because you only have two arms.   That was always my motto and then one day I was driving to work, there was this cat on the street, underneath the wheels of a huge semi and he was just this tiny little thing and we all stopped traffic and got him.  Once I had him in my hands I was like – okay three is fine.”  Carrie Ann continued, “You can have as many cats as you want as long as you can give them love and take care of them and make sure they have proper feeding and you can afford to take them to the doctor when they need to. They are just like children.  You also need to provide a good living situation.  If you could do that you could have as many as you want.”

I confessed to Carrie Ann I prefer dogs to cats – which lead to our conversation about how cats are misunderstood and why she loves cats.  Carrie Ann said,

“I think people are afraid of cats and they sort of have gotten a bad wrap over time and I’m not sure why and that’s why this show is great!!  It focuses on cats and there are a lot of cat lovers out there.  Dr. Katrina Warren comes out to the house and she helps people out who are having problems with their cats to solve the problems so they could have a happy house.”  Carrie Ann also stated, “I think people are afraid of anything they don’t know and often people don’t know a lot about cats.  They’re wonderful little things.”

Carrie Ann loves that cats are independent – just like people.

Carrie Ann is a dancer, singer and television personality.  When I asked her if she had to choose one of the three which would she prefer she confessed dancing.

“My soul is a dancer….I love to move…..music moves my soul.  As I get older the one thing I wish I had done more of is sing.”

Who is Carrie Ann’s favorite Dancing With the Stars celebrity contestant??

To my surprise, Carrie Ann confessed it was Jerry Springer.

“Jerry Springer was one of my favorite contestants ever.  Not the best dancer.  When he came on the show I sort of had this realization that our show was so much more than just a dance show.  He came on this show and revealed this incredible human being, behind  the person who did that show, ‘Jerry Springer Live’.  I was so impressed the way he handled the show and how we got to know him through dance.”  She continued, “He’s a very special person and I was very honored to get to know him through dance on our show.”

I had to ask about Len who at times could be a bit hard on the celebrities.  Carrie Ann had nothing but great things to say about Len.

“Len is a very special person, so dapper, so charming and so well mannered.”

Any plans on seeing Carrie Ann on Cat Chow’s Housecat Housecall??

Good to know I’m not alone thinking cats are misunderstood. I love that show Housecat Housecalls – its one of my set DVR programs and will definitely watch. But you girls at Have U Heard already knew that.
