Jenna sings this show’s theme song; Rachel Dratch plays a cleaning woman. She and Liz engage in a conversation in the elevator, which incorporates them saying “Blah, blah, blah” back and forth to one another, literally.
Kenneth then gives Jenna her messages, stating that her pharmacy was not able to give her a prescription for ecstasy. Liz visits Tracy in his dressing room to hear Tracy’s new idea after watching the Carol Burnett show. Tracy wants to now crack up in a skit instead of actually reading the lines, believing that’ll bring more laughter. Liz doesn’t allow this. Tracy promises he won’t do it but after she’s out the door, he vows to crack up during taping.
Liz then finds Jack in a knitted poncho in his office, something he was able to make with all the free time he has now, now that he doesn’t drink. The first skit of the Tracy Morgan Show is ready to air; it is a FOX News parody. Tracy laughs awkwardly and intentionally throughout it, forcing the show to cut to commercial immediately.
The first commercial is with Chris Parnell playing his doctor character (as seen in previous episodes), advertising his very own singing album to help male sexual dysfunction. Afterwards Liz confronts Tracy to tell him that he’s ruining the show with his laughter. Carol calls Liz from a plane that he is currently flying to ask if she can clear out his porn stash in case the plane crashes. Jenna then warns Liz that if Tracy doesn’t stop with the laughter, she’ll accidentally have one of her nipples slip out of her costume during a scene.
Meanwhile Jack is in the supple closet, sniffing paint to ease his alcohol cravings. Liz tells Jack that it’s her birthday. He apologizes and gives her $1,000 as a gift. Jenna storms into the room. Jack sniffs her mouth since she’s had a bottle of wine for dinner and the show cuts to commercial, with Jon Hamm raising awareness and money for “Hands for Executed Criminals.”
Jack holds a meeting with the cast and staff to plan something for Liz’s birthday. Carol survived the flight and calls Liz. Liz yells at him for also forgetting her birthday. Jack and the cast & staff throw a surprise party for Liz and bring out a cake that has a picture of Fonzie on it. Liz realizes that the cake was stolen from the cleaning lady, as it is her birthday too. The cleaning lady enters attacks her cake stealer and Jack says to Liz, “It’s dangerous to say no to an old spinster.” In true SNL fashion, the cast then says their good-byes and thank you to the audience and camera. And that is this week’s live edition of 30 Rock.
