Something I always look forward to this time of the year is Barbara Walters Special ‘The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010′. This year, as for the past 18 years, it didn’t disappoint with shining the spotlight on the people that truly made their mark in 2010.

The legendary Walters began the special with the animal loving Betty White. The 88-year-old actress has been working steadyly for the past 63 years and this year has been seen everywhere, winning everything.

Next up was Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook. The world’s youngest billionaire did not sit down with Barbara but she took us on a little tour of his life. He lives in a modest home with his girlfriend and has turned down billions for Facebook because he has not yet taken it where he wants it to go. Barbara said, ‘It is Mark Zuckerberg’s world and we are just living in it’.

Of course with the Bieber Fever epidemic, Justin Bieber made the list. Dubbed the new Prince of Pop Barbara talked about Justin’s broken family and poor childhood.  Always a musical child, he made his mark several years ago on Youtube. Now the shooting star is unstoppable and melted Barbara’s heart when he sang her tune.

The cast of Jersey Shore was probably not her choice, but it is the most talked about reality show. Barbara said they have been described as controversial, dumb, oversexed, crude, rude, uneducated, violent, classless, delusional and overall a bad example for today’s youth. They have also been criticized for misrepresenting Italian-Americans.  Barbara gets a lesson in JS speak- GTL (gym tanning laundry), grenades (unattractive woman), smoosh (hooking up having sex).  In closing, Snooki thinks Barbara is Hot in person and she would kick our asses on the Jersey Shore.

In 2010,  Sandra Bullock has had humor and gracious in the face of adversity.  She has had a year full of the highest highs and the lowest lows, the short list  includes, divorce, becoming a mother, and win some of the most coveted awards in the entertainment industry.  Barbara should put a ’Bullock’ printed on one of her chairs because I think she will be fascinating for many more years.

Kate Middleton, the young, beautiful future Queen of England made this year’s list.  Last month Prince William  proposed to his live-in girlfriend of nine years.  On April 29th of next year William and Kate will marry and how she handles the challenge will define who she is.

Jennifer Lopez is a singer, dancer, actress and designer who oversees a multi-million dollar empire, and now she’s a Judge on “American Idol.” She opens up to Ms. Walters about how she handles everything, how she keeps up her marriage to Mark Anthony, and how she balances being a mother of twins. When asked about her marriage, Lopez says, “I think love has to be learned. When two people come together, it’s a very tricky thing. I think what’s great about Mark and I is that we work toward making it as perfect as you can. Nobody’s perfect, nothing ever is going to be. But you work toward that.”

Barbara Walters also sits down with controversial political figure and former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. In the 18-year history of “The 10 Most Fascinating People,” Palin is the only guest to be featured in the special three years in a row. She addresses rumors of marital problems and family life, telling Ms. Walters, “There’s also rumors that Trig isn’t my son. There’s also rumors that Track went to Iraq to avoid jail. There is a lot of BS out there. I don’t want to just believe that it comes with the territory, when you put yourself forward, in the name of public service, that you have to take that kind of garbage that’s out there, but yeah, there’s constant rumors out there about us. I saw on the cover of a tabloid that we were getting a 20 million dollar divorce. I was in the grocery checkout line when I saw it and I called Todd and said, I can’t believe the cover of this magazine! This is what it says. And Todd says, ’20 million bucks? Write me a check.’”
