It looks like Prince William and Kate Middleton are going to be just like us – for a while anyway. William and his fiance, Kate Middleton have decided to pass on servants – temporarily anyway.
Butlers and household staff of the royal life will be placed on hold for a bit, according to London’s Daily Telegraph.
William and Kate already do their own cooking, cleaning and shopping at the rented cottage where they spend weekends together off the northwest coast of Wales. They plan to continue that lifestyle at least until William finishes his three year tour of duty as an RAF search and rescue pilot.
The couple have bodyguards to protect them and will continue to have bodyguards.
This is yet another sign of how “real” the Prince and soon to be Princess really are.

Similarly to the Wills and Kate, I lived with my girlfriend as uni students prior to being married- though we never broke up. It’s been 30 years of blissful marriage- yes it’s had its rough moments- but I have my best friend and soul-mate.
Doing mundane tasks together makes a chore a chance to chat, share our thoughts, share some of life’s little burdens and to demonstrate our care and thoughtfulness of the spouse (wife makes me a coffee, I make her a tea- exactly as she likes it without asking- and more than often enough ends with some romantic spontaneity (if the kids are out). Life’s simple pleasures, all little things- which make it all special.
I think William and Kate may have found exactly their soul-mates. They look adoringly at one another and remind me of my marriage.
I cannot fault them for not the special intimacy, tranquility and serentiy they gain from one another’s company being ruined by some disloyal servant (who’d air all (real or contrived) dirty laundry at the first hint of a tabloid pay-cheque).
I think the modern world has lost track of the importance of taking pleasure in life’s simple joys, authentic intimacy and true romance.
Well done Wiliam and Kate for being such fine examples to today’s youth.
