Can you imagine seeing someone on the side of the road hitchhiking and thinking “that looks like Bono”??  That’s what happened to Edmonton Oiler Gilbert Brule when his girlfriend said she spotted U2′s Bono on the side of the road hitchhiking.

Brule, who was skeptical at first, stopped to pick up the two hitchhikers in Vancouver and one of them was none other than Bono. Bono was walking with his assistant when they were caught in the rain.

Bono thanked the couple by inviting them to a U2 show in Edmonton, where the singer even recounted the hitchhiking anecdote on stage, declaring: “I’m ever so grateful. I’ve decided that I want to be Gilbert Brule.”
