Actress/comedienne and web host Niecy Nash (Yahoo’s “Let’s Talk About Love,” “Reno 911!,” “Clean House”) claims that it takes a village to raise a diva and hopes her new family won’t be an outdoor one, unless it involves lying on a yacht.
The actress/rock singer and nature-loving Tina Yothers (best known for her role on “Family Ties”) considers her biggest achievement to be a wife and stay-at-home mom who enjoys cooking meals with fresh ingredients from the family garden. The worlds of these two celebrity wives are turned upside down when they agree to swap families for one week.
Niecy, an admitted city-girl, is shocked when she arrives with her designer luggage at the country home of Tina and is greeted by Tina’s husband, Bob Kaiser, and their children, Sarah (12), Lilly (6) and Bobby (31/2).
Niecy is used to filling her free time lunching with the girls, attending red carpet events and being pampered. She soon discovers that her new family is all about the great outdoors and spending time together. In the first part of the swap, Niecy finds there is freshly hunted deer she is expected to cook, eggs to be gathered and even an angry rooster to tend with.  But the real shocker comes when they all head to the mountains on a family camping and fishing trip.   Niecy cannot understand why anyone would want to sleep on the ground if they don’t have to.  Niecy is looking for the fun in all this – yelling for it.  Only fun doesn’t answer.  And she wants her life back.  Niecy is not handling the switch too well.   Niecy quits the camp out.  She cannot handle sleeping outdoors.  The fear of the coyotes is way too much for her.  When the time comes for Niecy to introduce her set of household rules, will the family be able to handle her red carpet style glamour?
Niecy’s Rules
- no more camping outside – they will go glamping – including having Bob shave his beard.
- go to a fancy dinner – napkins and everything
- no more country – they are going to a movie premiere
- Bobby needs to be nice or he won’t be allowed to go to dinner with the family
Needless to say, Bobby wasn’t nice the first day and didn’t go to dinner with the family.  The next day, Bobby did a complete turnaround and ended up being able to go with the family to a movie premiere.
Meanwhile, Tina has swapped her country lifestyle for Niecy’s stylish San Fernando Valley home with Jay Tucker, her husband of two months and her children, Dominic (19), Donielle (16) and Dia (11). Also, Niecy’s mother, Margaret, lives with them. The family calls Margaret the “VP of Operations” since she does all of the cooking, cleaning and even the gardening. The kids are always on the run, either busy with school activities or hanging out at the mall.
Tina is crying as soon as she steps into the limo – she has never been away from her family.  Tina considers mealtime family time, and is surprised that the kids eat their meals in their rooms in front of the TV, while Jay eats alone in his home office. But before Tina can take charge and institute her set of rules, she must first find out what it’s like to spend some time in Niecy’s high-heeled shoes.   Walking in the high heels proves to be a problem as she falls down while strutting her stuff.  Tina gets a taste of Hollywood pampering when Niecy’s hairdresser, stylist and personal trainer come to the house to give her a Hollywood makeover.
Tina’s Rules
- more family time
- get the family outside
Tina gets Jay out of the office for a one on one chat. The family eats dinner together.
Tina says she missed the noise and felt like she was on vacation.  To that Niecy responds with a simple “your welcome”.  Tina only has a short moment to be there with the kids and doesn’t want to miss a thing.  Niecy and Tina disagree over “tough” love.  Tina doesn’t think Bobby needs to be reeled in – and she picks her battles.
Tina explains that bringing the kids to a horse ranch was a great experience.  Niecy is willing to open up more opportunities outside of Hollywood for her family.  Niecy admits they need to find time for everything the family needs to do.  Tina can’t imagine her family being any better.
At the end of the week, the two couples will meet for the first time. In a deeply honest and highly-charged exchange of views, both couples will make a frank assessment of each other and talk about what they’ve learned from the experience. In the process, all will discover what it would be like to live a life radically different from their own.
