This week’s Modern Family may help you realize that we are all just fragile eggs hiding behind bubble wrap and bravado…
Competitive spirits soar as Manny and Luke test their clever little brains on an “egg drop” school project. Oh, but let me clarify – the contest brews between Claire and Jay of course. I mean, why would the kids who are actually in school fully focus on their homework project, that just wouldn’t make much sense…
Meanwhile, Phil’s big seminar is now of little importance to Claire who held an integral part in the presentation. However, Phil wastes little time finding a substitute for his irreplaceable wife, nearly pouncing on the opportunity to swap her with Gloria.
Cam and Mitchell meet with a prospective mother, as they literally do a song and dance, attempting to lure the baby out of the womb and into their gay arms.
After parking in a tow-away zone, Gloria and Hayley find themselves stranded at the salon. Consequently, Phil finds himself in a disastrous one man show at his seminar – forced to do his own introduction and having the audience scrambling to find a ticket under their seat that is safely stowed away in Hayley’s purse. When Gloria and Hayley show up it is too late, and Phil uncharacteristically shows his anger… that is until he literally puts Gloria on a pedestal and hugs his anger away.
Mitchell and Cam begin to pop the bubbly, with their new baby in the bag. Oh, wait, let me take that back. That may not be the best expression in this moment. How about, ‘With their new baby nearly down one mommy and up two daddies, Cam lets his musical side dominate with a melancholy song that has their prospective mother regretting her choice.” Ahh, yes much better.
In the end, Claire and Jay finally come to their senses. They realize that they have done the boys’ project themselves, as their competitive nature surfaced and enveloped their minds. What they didn’t notice in their vein battle, was that Manny and Luke purposely plotted the two against each other, knowing that they wouldn’t need to contribute anything to their own school projects. Not to mention that their project didn’t stand a chance with Alex’s genius model that floated down as the two came to their epiphany…
- “Actually, it’s the opposite of a first date. You don’t wanna have sex, but you do want a baby.” – Mitchell
- “Luke did pretty good too for a kid that still needs help getting out of his backpack.” – Jay
- Sticking with their theme of the new year, MF once again jolted us a bit with a flash of serious (again too serious?), when Phil flipped on Gloria and Hayley. To quote Dane Cook, “I felt like Daddy just hit Mommy at the dinner table.”
- “Okay look at it this way, we’re not adopting a baby, we’re saving it from a lifespan searching for East Dakota.” – Cam
- PS – Was Lily shipped back home? Where has she been?
Share your thoughts on tonight’s hilarious episode. If you prefer, why don’t you preach to the choir, literally. I’m sure you’ve sung in several.
