Prior to the big game, Indianapolis also hosted A-list celebrities, NFL athletes and thousands of spectators for the DIRECTV’s Sixth Annual Celebrity Beach Bowl, presented by SPIKE TV, on Saturday, Feb. 4.

The DIRECTV Celebrity Beach Bowl has become one of the must-attend events of Super Bowl weekend, with Hollywood’s brightest stars competing against NFL greats in a no-holds-barred flag football game in front of thousands of  fans. Playing the game was model Kate Upton, Snoop Dog and Maria Menounos.

Actors Neil Patrick Harris and Matt Bomer were named as “celebrity assistant coaches” while Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton and the Detroit Lions’ Matthew Stafford acted as head coaches.

With former footballers Joe Montana and Warren Moon serving as quarterbacks, other celebs partaking in the event included “Gossip Girl”actor Chace Crawford and singer Jordin Sparks, as well as “True Blood” hottie Joe Manganiello.

Rounding out the slate of competitors were Candica Accola, Erin Andrews and David Arquette.

The after party was also star studded with appearances by Katy Perry and Jane Krakowski among the celebrity guests spotted.
