Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) 2012 Premiere Recap 3/19/12 Season 14

Dancing With the Stars returns for the 14th season with a star-studded cast.

Dancing either the Foxtrot or the Cha Cha, the couples will be sure to surprise audiences with exciting performances throughout the evening when they hit the ballroom floor for the first time on live national television.

In the order of their appearances and the dances they will be dancing we have:

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Comments: Len thought she did very, very well. A bit more hip action. Bruno said “you so curvasiously delicious – I had no idea.” He said her timing was good. He also told her to open up her sex pot. Carrie Ann said she did a great job, she had good strength and good placement.
Score: 21/30

Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya
Dance: Foxtrot
Judges Comments: Bruno said it was beautifully acted and beautifully danced. Carrie Ann said you can act, you can sing and boy you can dance. Len said the feel of the dance was fantastic but the technique was poor – although he did enjoy the dance.
Score: 23/30

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Judges Comments: Carrie Ann said he is nothing but charisma and charm. Len said his attitude was good but he got over excited a few times. You started to lose time because of that. Bruno said full impact, you are a diamond in the rough. Energy, power, presence. You were like a rooster chasing the pact. Refine it.
Scores: 21/30

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff
Dance: Foxtrot
Judges Comments: Len said he thought the routine flowed. He thought Gavin was a bit stiff and it wasn’t the greatest. Bruno said it was interpreted well but he needs to learn to link the moves. Carrie Ann said there is tenderness to his dancing.
Scores: 20/30
As a sidenote – it looks like Carrie Ann’s false eyelashes are falling off.

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Judges Comments: Bruno said Roshon can go on and on and on. He kept the beat. Laser sharp. Never too early. Unbelievable. Carrie Ann said it was the coolest spin she has seen on the cha cha in all 14 seasons. Len said he can dance and the performance level was high but technically it was very low.
Scores: 23/30

Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy:
Dance: Foxtrot
Side note – They danced to ‘Sherri Baby’ – too cute!!
Judges Comments: Carrie Ann said she loved watching her dance and she did a nice job. Len said she brought the joy of dancing to the dance floor. She made it fun, fun,fun. Bruno said she lit up the room.
Sherri said short of birthing her child this was the hardest thing she has ever done. She also apologized to any of the dancers she ever criticized on The View.

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Judges Comments: Len said he would have like more hip action but he thought she did a great job. Bruno said there is work to do but it was a very inspiring performance. Carrie Ann said great job but she seemed tense.
Scores: 20/30
– Did anyone else think the judges were harder on them than the rest of the contestants? The judges started off with a negative where as with all of the other contestants they started with a positive.

William Levy and Cheryl Burke
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Judges Comments: Bruno announced William as the “hottest package of the season.” Carrie Ann said William can dance and she likes the way he moves (who doesn’t?). Len thought he did a great job.
Scores: 24/30

Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani
Dance: Foxtrot
Carrie Ann said she has to work on her turns. Len said it was close but it wasn’t quite there. It was too careful. You have to come out and wow it. Bruno said she looked stunning. She needs to extend her moves through her arms. Good posture. He thinks she did very well.
Scores: 20/30

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas
Dance: Foxtrot
Judges Comments: Len said she did a great job. Bruno said it was exquisite. The quality of movement was surreal. Carrie Ann said Katherine was fabulous. It was like watching a pro.
Score: 26/30

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus
Dance: Cha Cha Cha
Judges Comments: Bruno said the legend has the moves. Carrie Ann said she made her want to get up and dance. Len said there is a naturalness about her dancing and she did a wonderful job.
Scores: 23/30

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson
Dance: Foxtrot
Judges Comments: Carrie Ann said Jaleel was the icing on the cake. Len said he loved the routine. It had elegance and sophistication. Bruno said he thought he was watching Gregory Hines.
Scores: 26/30

The contestants this season are A-Mazing. Jaleel White and Katherine Jenkins had the highest score with both of them scoring a 26 and Melissa and Martina are at the bottom with a score of 20.
