Unwilling to let her ex mother in-law continue calling the shots Alicia makes it clear to Jackie that buying the house for Peter and the kids was a big mistake and she’ll make sure it doesn’t happen.
After clueing Peter in to what his mother’s been up to it’s business as usual for Alicia but it looks like her day isn’t getting any better after she receives a visit at the office from Mike Kresteva, the lawyer she locked horns with on the blue ribbon panel. A bit unclear as to what his visit was really all about, Alicia quickly finds out when he goes on TV accusing the State’s Attornies office of covering up a police shooting along with the announcement that he’s running for governor.
On top of the personal issues she’s dealing with, Alicia is working on a case involving three young women who have been in prison the last few years for a murder they didn’t commit. While each girl has her own attorney, they’re all working together for a release. When the judge overturns their current sentence and calls for a new trial, Kalinda begins her investigation.
Worried how things will look for the State’s Attornies office due to mistakes of his predecessor, Peter has Cary offer an Alfred Plea, which basically allows the girls their freedom but only after admitting their guilt. Unfortunately not all three are on board and so Kalinda must dig a little deeper. While doing so she discovers that one of the girls is in fact guilty, the other two just got caught up in the middle. Thankfully it’s not their client and Alicia is happy to be there for support when she is finally released from prison.
While Alicia has wrapped up her case, the personal problems she’s been dealing with unfortunaly aren’t as easy to wrap up. Jackie has had a stroke, and being the devious woman that she is, uses that to her advantage. Knowing that he has Alicia’s support, Peter makes the decision to run for governor even though it’s going to be a nasty battle with Kresteva, who has made it clear that family’s not off limits and Alicia will be the one regretting Peter running.
Stay tuned as things heat up as there are only two more episodes left this season!
