While everyone thinks Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler walked away from American Idol of their own accord, there are reports stating that is the furthest thing from the truth.
With American Idol losing it’s ratings at a rapid pace and The X Factor stepping up the star power with Britney Spears and Demi Lovato as judges, the two American Idol judges were dumped from the show.
Lopez was paid $12 million for her first season on the show and $15 million for her second. She was requesting $17 million for her third season but the network wasn’t biting and didn’t make a counteroffer.
As for Steven Tyler – Fox didn’t pick up the Aerosmith singer’s option for another season.
