Lenny Kravitz will be portraying Marvin Gaye in a biopic that will be shot next year!

This will be Kravitz’ first leading role in a film. The news was confirmed by his publicist on Tuesday. Kravitz has played small supporting roles, including one in The Hunger Games, but he has never had a leading role before.

Rolling Stone says that Kravitz will be portraying Gaye during the 1980s when he was fighting his addictions and attempting to restart his career.

Gaye died in 1984 after being shot by his father.
