The Rolling Stones returned to the London stage on Sunday, the first of five mega-shows to mark the passage of 50 years since the band first appeared in a small London pub determined to pay homage to the masters of American blues.
The sell-out gig opening to roughly 20,000 fans at the O2 Arena in London, saw the band play hits like “I Wanna Be Your Man” and “Get Off My Cloud”. Former members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor joined frontman Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and drummer Charlie Watts on stage. The bill also included some other surprise guests, which included British rock guitarist Jeff Beck and Mary J. Blige.
Following Sunday’s show The Stones will play one more gig at the O2 Arena on November 29, before heading to the U.S. for a show at Barclay Center, Brooklyn, NY on December 8 and two at the Prudential Center, Newark, NJ on December 13 and 15.
