It’s the Winter Finale of 666, y’all. Of course, we only have something like 3 episodes until the actual finale of the show. Personally, I blame the fact that Vanessa Williams wasn’t used NEARLY enough.
So we begin the episode with local medium, Maris Elder (Whoopi Goldberg) giving Jane mint tea in her apartment. Apparently she has an intimate relationship with Lotte, Nona’s Grandmother who Maris explains is in a state of catatonia,”we talk in our way,” she says. She also reveals that the last time she walked out of her apartment was in 1986. Maris wants to discuss local sports teams but Jane is anxious to cut the chit-chat and find out where the funk she went that night that she walked down the stairs of doom and found herself meandering the streets of Times Square like some weird Czechoslovakian new wave film. Maris tells Jane she is experiencing dissociative amnesia. She knows this because she is a clinical psychologist with a PhD. But she doesn’t shrink heads anymore, now she opens minds. She takes Jane’s hand and is suddenly flooded with Jane’s memories. I’m glad to see Whoopi getting back to her Ghost roots. She tells Jane that she never actually left the Drake, which Jane says is impossible and reminds her that they found her in an I heart NY shirt carrying a bottle of Guy Fieri’s Donkey sauce and a statue of liberty snow globe. Meredith tells her, Forget about where. Think about when.”
