In yet another flashback on Scandal, we see how Cytron was able to rig the voting in Defiance, Ohio. They were supplying the new voting machines and during a display, the memory chips were switched out, the kicker, Lindsay Dwyer’s boyfriend (Jessie Tyler) was the one who switched out the chips (same day she found out she passed the bar). As for her boyfriend, he gets on the wrong side of Hollis Doyle when he demands another five million for his part in the election rigging.
U.S. Attorney David Rosen has Doyle into his office (along with a gaggle of his attorneys) to let him know that he, along with top White House officials, are under investigation for rigging the election. Rosen give Doyle until the end of the week to testify against the others and not face prosecution. Doyle, not so politely, turns down the offer. Who does Doyle turn to for help with Rosen? Olivia, “apparently we still have a David Rosen problem”. It was Olivia who put the brakes on Rosen the last time he got in Doyle’s business. Doyle also has no problem threatening Olivia. Letting her know that he will take Rosen’s deal, should it come to that.
Mellie bursts into Cyrus’ office, demanding that he do something about her husband. Apparently she didn’t take the President asking for a divorce very well. Cyrus goes straight to the President, pretty much dressing him down for his rash decision, but the President stands fast. He wants a divorce, and expects Cyrus to handle it in a way that will save his political career. Keep in mind, Mellie is nine months pregnant, divorcing her now could be considered political suicide by some.
