If you’ve yet to hear one of Kanye West‘s rants about the paparazzi, you’re sure to hear them now. The 36-year-old rapper has officially been charged with two misdemeanor crimes, stemming from a July 19 altercation with a member of the paparazzi at LAX airport.
According to the L.A. city attorney’s office, Kim Kardashian’s beau has been charged with battery and attempted grand theft after video captured him rushing a photographer and wrestling him to the ground.
The photographer, Daniel Ramos, found himself in the undesirable (for West, anyway) situation when he and a group of fellow photographers refused to stop talking to and taking photos of the rapper. If you don’t know how much Kanye loathes his personal space being invaded, just YouTube it.
For his part, Ramos filed a lawsuit against West claiming that his right hip was injured in the incident. Fortunately for the Yeezus rapper, the L.A. County district attorney’s office decided against the charges when they determined the pap was not “significantly injured”, reported the Associated Press.
An arraignment for the new father has been set for October 10, although he isn’t required to appear in court that day. If convicted of the two misdemeanors (battery, attempted grand theft) West could face a maximum of 6 months for each charge.
But with as much “overcrowding” in L.A. jails, it’s unlikely to me that Kanye will do any time. What do you think?
