Jon Hamm Completes Rehab for Alcohol – More Publicity for Mad Men?
Actor, Jon Hamm has completed a 30 day stint for alcohol addiction. He was treated at the high-end Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, Connecticut.
The Mad Men actor released a statement saying:
“With the support of his longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward”
Coincidentally, the announcement comes at the same time as Mad Menis set to premier its last season on April 5, 2015. Hamm plays Don Draper, who is also an alcoholic, on the hit series. While his character’s alcohol issues have been played out onscreen, Hamm has avoided comparisons with his character. In an interview last year, Hamm spoke about not being into the club scene and avoiding the pitfalls of fame.
Hamm has spoken in interviews over the years about going to Hollywood with no money in his pocket and in debt calling his lack of resources an easy way to avoid the overindulgence that often come with success.
Hamm has been busy promoting the last season of Mad Men, joining the rest of the cast for a number of publicity ops in New York this past week. including screenings at Museum of Modern Art and The Film Society of Lincoln Center, an interview on NBC’s Today, an exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image and an unveiling of a Mad Men bench.
Hamm has been nominated for and won many awards for his depiction of the dark Don Draper. He has also been acclaimed for his comedy chops seen on SNL and 30 Rock and the big screen Bridesmaids. Hamm has also enjoyed being an international sex symbol once named one of People’s sexiest men alive. Mad Men begins its final season next week.
