Kate Middleton Begins Maternity Leave
Kate Middleton made her last official appearances before beginning maternity leave, appearing with Prince William for a tour of the Stephen Lawrence Center, then Christ Church learning about the work of disadvantaged youth, and finally at studio XLP.
All eyes were on Middleton as she continued to impress with her fashion sense. Recycling a bright pink double-breasted coat that she wore during her visit to New York in 2014, Middleton carried out the last of her official engagements before she gives birth to royal baby number two.
British succession rules have been changed which means that no matter the gender this baby will be the fourth in line to the British throne following Prince Charles, Prince William, and brother, Prince George. Prince Harry will be bumped to number five but he doesn’t seem to be bothered by the bump.
While no official date has been given for the impending birth, Middleton was heard last week saying the baby will be arriving, “mid to end April.” When wished luck, Prince William responded, “not long now,” adding that this baby would be a “family game changer.”
The Duke and Duchess mixed with performers. The Duchess received a book and bouquets of flowers and the couple appeared happily in love anticipating their second child. It is a stark contrast to the images of the Duke’s parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana. The Duchess draws comparisons with her sense of fashion even at times wearing outfits that appear to be a nod to the late Princess.
These were the last public appearances for the popular Middleton. She will likely disappear from public as she prepares to give birth. The next time we see her will most likely be when she appears on the steps of the hospital with Prince William and their new little prince or princess.
