Kathy Griffin Quits “Fashion Police” Is the Show Over?

By on March 12, 2015

First Kelly Osbourne decided to exit “Fashion Police”  following what she deemed as racist comments made by co-host Giuliana Rancic. Rancic and Osbourne, who had been with the show for five years, got into a conflict when a photo of Zendaya from the 2015 Academy Awards was put up on the show. She was wearing dreadlocks, a big change from her Grammy pixie cut. Rancic made a comment that she felt as though Zendaya, 18 would smell like “patchouli” or “weed.” Zendaya was convinced that this was a racist comment and stars like Kerry Washington backed her up after she wrote a long letter about how insulted she felt.

Rancic went onto not only tweet an apology but also gave a heartfelt apology on E! News. Her defense was that she was referring to the Bohemian style that Zendaya was sporting. This made Osbourne announce that she was ready to leave the show then tweeted that she was happy with the outcome when everyone made up. Zendaya accepted Rancic’s apology and all seemed right with the “Fashion Police” world. Then, Osbourne announced she was exiting the show and started appearing on her mom’s show “The Talk.”

Tonight, we can reveal that “Fashion Police” is down one more person, as hostess Kathy Griffin has quit the show as well. She had come in as a replacement, after original host and creator, Joan Rivers passed away. Things seemed to be going well and there was even talk as to who would replace Osbourne.

E! released a statement:

“We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!’s Fashion Police. We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all.” They continued to add that: “Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30 at 9 p.m. with our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski and Executive Producer Melissa Rivers.”

So, why did Griffin split after just two months and a handful of episodes? According to Griffin’s Twitter, the comedian revealed today:

“I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show and now it’s time to move on. “When I chose to step into the shoes of my beloved Joan Rivers…I was thrilled to continue her legacy as a woman being brash and eccentric on television. I am a freedom-loving female and gay rights activist who loves to find the funny in all people, attitudes, beliefs, and appearances, but only when the context permits intelligent humor. My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about CONTEXT…Listen, I am no saint…But I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference. I want to help women, gay kids, people of color and anyone who feels underrepresented to have a voice and a LAUGH!”

This comes as a major shock to everyone and now I really want to know who can replace her? Maybe NeNe Leakes with one of her “Fashion Queens” or Khloe Kardashian, who was Team Zendaya, so that may cause friction.

I, personally think that this show should call a spade a spade, do a huge going away special and end it, for the respect of Joan Rivers. What do you think??
