Are You Gonna Be My Girl by Jet
Judges Comments: Keith Urban: Crazy. I love that song. I thought you did great at the end. If you get loose right from the start. You have every right to feel liberated. J.Lo: I feel you are so ready for tour. You have the perfect combination of having a good time and performing for the audience. Harry: I’ve really been getting a sense of seeing you in concert. I am really starting to get an idea. That was strong.
White Flag by Dido
Judges Comments: Keith: You did a great job with the piano. I ask myself, ‘Did you hold me? Did you hold my attention throughout the whole song. I was completely riveted to that and it was great. Jennifer: After the last song, that was so fun, “I said to Harry that we’re going to need to see a little bit more from Jax if she’s going to win. We are going to need that moment and that is exactly what you did right now. That just tells me that your instincts as an artist is so perfectly ready to be in this business. It was beautiful to watch. Harry: Jacks I’m making jokes because the serious part was phenomenal.
Harder to Breathe by Maroon 5
Judges Comments: J.Lo: It seems to me that you are getting more and more comfortable every time. That song lends itself perfectly for audience participation. Always be aware of that stuff. Your leading the party. You sounded great. Perfect song for you. Harry Connick: I think that was really scary for the other people in the competition. You are getting better every week. It was a great song for you. Really nice man. Keith: Vocally you are finding your lane. Now its about the performance. It feels like you are not in the moment. It is something you should work on next.
Maggie Mae by Rod Stewart
Judges Comments: Jennifer: I thought it was a good song choice for you. It’s about making moments. You don’t want every song to feel the same. Think about what is going to make a difference to get you through. Harry: Do you think you could sustain a 2 or 3 hour show on the road? Nice job.
Yesterday by The Beatles
Judges Comments: Harry: One of my favorite things about what you just did is you didn’t use any high notes gratuitously. It makes the whole thing have structure and make sense. I thought it was terrific. Keith: It was beautiful. I thought it was an interesting song choice. It would be like if Sam Smith did it. Don’t feel like you have to be so contained. Release it more. Jennifer: I agree with Keith and Harry. It was risky but at the end of the day, you sang it beautifully.
