Avril Lavigne Bedridden with Lyme Disease
Avril Lavigne is opening up about her bout with Lyme Disease and how she was bedridden for five months, battling the horrible disease.
In an interview with People Magazine, the singer revealed she must have been bitten by a tick last month and after months of feeling lethargic and barely being able to get out of bed, she was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She said,
“I felt like I couldn’t breathe, I couldn’t talk and I couldn’t move,” she says. “I thought I was dying. There were definitely times I couldn’t shower for a full week because I could barely stand. It felt like having all your life sucked out of you.”
Lavigne had an amazing support system, including her mother, who moved in with her to help care for her and her husband, Chad Kroeger, stepped in when he could during breaks in his tour with Nickelback.
Lavigne is thankful for her fans who she said were missing her and waiting for her to get better. Unlike other celebrities who disappear for months without explanation, there weren’t any rumors of Lavigne taking a break in rehab. Zayn formerly from One Direction, has frequently been missing in action with rumors of rehab rampant. Since his absences were usually just here and there, it definitely wasn’t Lyme Disease.
Avril is ready to move forward with her life and enjoy the moment. Next up for the Canadian singer is releasing new music. Her new single “Fly” will be released this month in support of the 2015 Special Olympics.
Thankfully, Avril Lavigne is on the mend. There is nothing worse than being so sick and not having any idea what it is, only to discover it is Lyme Disease and there isn’t much you can do for it, outside of resting and healing.
We hope Avril Lavigne feels better and wish her well with the remainder of her recovery.
