Shonda Rhimes Statement About Derek Shepherd’s Death – We Will Be Okay
The death of Grey’s Anatomy, Derek Shepherd sent shockwaves throughout the internet. Weeping and sobs were heard around the world. Watching Patrick Dempsey’s final good bye on the long running series had fans sitting on the edge of their seats throughout the hour episode. He witnessed a car crash and saved three lives, only to end up dead.
Shonda Rhimes, the series creator took to social media to make a statement about the devastating loss of the key character on Grey’s Anatomy, Dr. Derek Shepherd.
“Derek Shepherd is and will always be an incredibly important character — for Meredith, for me and for the fans. I absolutely never imagined saying goodbye to our ‘McDreamy.’ Patrick Dempsey’s performance shaped Derek in a way that I know we both hope became a meaningful example — happy, sad, romantic, painful and always true — of what young women should demand from modern love. His loss will be felt by all. Now, Meredith and the entire Grey’s Anatomy family are about to enter uncharted territory as we head into this new chapter of her life. The possibilities for what may come are endless. As Ellis Grey would say: The carousel never stops turning.”
While we watched the death of Dr. Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy and the way his wife, Meredith Grey handled it, alone and like the consummate professional doctor she is – we will be waiting to witness Dr. Grey fall apart on a special two hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy next week, May 1, 2015.
In the mean time we will be mourning the loss of Patrick Dempsey’s character, Dr. Shepherd and all the character represented to the viewers. He gave women everywhere hope. Hope that love can conquer all. Hope that love is all you need to make your day brighter. Hope just because.
