Sofia Vergara Accused of Killing Her Future Children with Nick Loeb
Sofia Vergara has been accused of ‘killing’ her embryo’s with her ex-fiance, Nick Loeb. Loeb is suing Vergara for custody of the embryos, saying he has just as much right to the former couples frozen embryos as Vergara does.
Loeb took to the New York Times in an op-ed to explain his lawsuit to the public. In trying to maintain five more minutes of fame, Loeb is doing whatever he could to remain relevant, including holding on to frozen embryos from an ex-girlfriend.
Loeb and Vergara had Vergara’s eggs fertilized with Loeb’s sperm in 2013, while they were still engaged. Unfortunately, the couple ended up breaking up the following year. Loeb is suing Vergara to ensure the embryos are protected. He is even willing to absolve Vergara of all responsibilities if given custody of the embryos. Vergara would like to keep the embryos frozen indefinitely.
Loeb explains in the op-ed entitled, “Our Frozen Embryos Have a Right to Live,”
he initially wanted the court case to remain anonymous, but felt compelled to speak out after it leaked. Lobe claims he wants to bring attention to embryo custody because, “embryonic custody disputes raise important questions about life, religion and parenthood.” He wants the fights of men to be just as important as the rights of women when it comes to embryos, continuing,
“A woman is entitled to bring a pregnancy to term even if the man objects. Shouldn’t a man who is willing to take on all parental responsibilities be similarly entitled to bring his embryos to term even if the woman objects?
He goes on to explain that he was the one who wanted children and pushed Vergara into it and they even had a surrogate on two occasions, with one not taking and the second resulting in a miscarriage.
He also claims their breakup was a result of his wanting children and she did not.
So why doesn’t Loeb find another girlfriend/wife to have his children? He claims he has “every intention of doing so. But that doesn’t mean I should let the two lives I have already created be destroyed or sit in a freezer until the end of time.”
What do you think about what Loeb is doing? Is this just a way for him to stay relevant or do you think he really wants the embryos.
