Josh Duggar Makes Selfish Statement – Apologizes for Molesting Sisters and Others
Josh Duggar has admitted the accusations that he molested family and friends are true. In a statement released to People, Duggar provided the details of what happened and how ashamed he was of his actions. He confessed to molesting young girls when he was a teenager. In the statement he released he said:
“Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I confessed this to my parents who took several steps to help me address the situation. We spoke with the authorities where I confessed my wrongdoing, and my parents arranged for me and those affected by my actions to receive counseling. I understood that if I continued down this wrong road that I would end up ruining my life.”
Wow! At least Duggar knows if he continued to molest young girls he would end up ruining his life. The statement he made is beyond selfish. What about the young girls he molested? Their lives are ruined. This is something that will never be able to be undone and they have to live with Every. Single. Day.
As a result of
getting caught the information being made public, Josh has resigned from his position at the Family Research Council as a result of the accusations becoming public, but his family has stood behind him.
Jim Bob and Michelle have also spoken out about the molestation saying,
“Back 12 years ago our family went through one of the most difficult times of our lives. When Josh was a young teenager, he made some very bad mistakes, and we were shocked. We had tried to teach him right from wrong. That dark and difficult time caused us to seek God like never before. Even though we would never choose to go through something so terrible, each one of our family members drew closer to God. We pray that as people watch our lives they see that we are not a perfect family. We have challenges and struggles every day. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God’s kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so undeserving.”
Finally, Josh’s wife was aware of what Josh did before they were married and she married him anyway. She expressed that we must all be as shocked as she was. Anna said she had confidence that the counseling her husband received “changed his life.” Because that’s all it takes is counseling and then you are no longer a molester. Unfortunately, there are too many molesters who have received counseling and continued to be a molester.
What do you think about Josh admitting to molesting his sisters and friends? Do you think it’s possible he has changed?
Will the reality television show, 19 Kids and Counting be shut down now that the revelations have been made public?
