Miley Cyrus Helps Get Netflix Show Renewed – Grace and Frankie
Miley Cyrus is known for doing many controversial things: twerking with Robin Thicke, taking nipple-baring photos with Scout Willis and dying her armpit hair pink. That is just the tip of the iceberg, but I am sure you get the idea. This time, Cyrus is making news for doing something that is actually a positive: she helped get the Netflix original series “Grace and Frankie” renewed for a second season. The show stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as jilted wives, who learn that their husbands are not only gay but in a relationship with one another. The husbands are played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston so that alone is a juicy combination; the cast also includes Ethan Embry, Brooklyn Decker and more.
So, how exactly did Miley Cyrus get this show to renew so there will be a second season? She went on a binger, watching every episode of the show and then tweeting about how much she loved it.
We have the June Schedule for NetFlix Here.
“I found my show! #GraceandFrankie (heart) on a bender! Jane & Lily are so bad a$$!,” she tweeted on May 25th.
With that, the show’s co-creator Marta Kauffman had to acknowledge the power of the tweet.
“Let me say, it’s so awesome to do a show on Netflix. Because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, ‘We’d like to do a season two.’ So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted [Sarandos] and Miley to thank.”
The show can be seen in all it’s glory on Netflix and you can binge-watch every episode and tweet to your hearts desire like Miley did. As for season two? It is said to debut next year, which is common for shows like this; USA Networks waits a long time in between seasons to bring back their hit shows, as does HBO; think “Sopranos” and “Sex and the City.”
I hope that the stars of the show sent Cyrus something really nice to help celebrate or maybe she will do a guest appearance. We will just have to wait and see.
