Charlize Theron and Sean Penn Break-Up; Engagement Off
Looks like one of our favorite Hollywood couples has called it quits. According to several sources, Charlize Theron and longtime love Sean Penn have split after a very public relationship, engagement and Penn attempting to adopt Theron’s young son Jackson, 3. This is not the first public split for either one of the Oscar winners. Penn was married to Madonna in the eighties then went onto marry Robin Wright, who is now engaged to actor Ben Foster. The couple have two children together: Dylan and Hopper. Theron dated her own slew of men but was in an almost decade long relationship with actor Stuart Townsend, who accompanied her to the Academy Awards the year that she won Best Actress for her role in “Monster.”
When Charlize and Sean started dating, they kept it low-key but then they were spotted out at places such as the supermarket with Jackson, Sean doting on him like he was already his father. Then, the petition allegedly went out for adoption, engagement was the hot topic and they were looking at homes as of February of this year. Their last public appearance was last month for Charlize’s hit film “Mad Max: Fury Road” where they could not have seemed more in love. Funny enough, Sean’s ex-wife Robin Wright had called off her engagement to Foster for a short time but then they reunited. I am hoping that the same can be said for Penn, 53 and Theron, 39.
After all, they have been friends for twenty years and finding love was a shock for Sean Penn, who told Esquire U.K. this:
“I’m surprised to be in love. Lot of reasons. Fifty-three years old plus finally beginning to figure out why you haven’t been happy in a single relationship? It could seem too late. Yes, I’d get married again. I’m in love with a woman and home is where the heart is, right?” As for Theron, she had this to say to E! a few months back: “It’s great when you find something that’s real and it’s hard to keep that sacred, to keep that private in this work, but I go home at night and I close my front door and I’m a really, really happy girl.”
We wish them all the best and hope they find happiness together.
