E L James made quite the splash with her Fifty Shades of Grey series, turning it into a blockbuster movie. James decided to write a fourth book in the series, Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as told by Christian, which looks at the world and the insatiable sex life of Christian Grey from his point of view. If you thought Anastasia Steele’s point of view was explicit, the reviews are saying, you haven’t seen anything yet.

Unfortunately, most of the feedback has been negative with words like disappointing and what a shame. It seems either the readers didn’t understand what the book was about since many of the reviews claim the book is merely a copy of James’ previous books without the author taking Christian Grey’s personality a step further. The readers are not interested in re-reading the series, they wanted something new to read.

Some of the reviews from Amazon include:

Not Worth the Time – There is nothing new here whatever. Christian is so juvenile it’s painful. Very obviously written by a woman. I was never sucked into his head and the narrative is in no way masculine. In fact quite the opposite.

What a Shame: I was looking forward to this book and am about half way through it. I’m not sure I’ll finish it. It seems like the author had her original book on one side and just switched things around so that Christian is now the first person – so the dialog is basically the same.

Readers took to Twitter to make comments about the book, saying:

“This book is the worst. I’m so sorry. #Grey”

“Caught glimpses of #Grey…I can’t…I just can’t. Whoever gave the go ahead to publish that ****, shame on you. #SoBad #Cringe”

James herself wrote on Twitter:

“Good moaning all… and Happy Birthday Christian #Grey :D”

It sounds as if you are looking for some hard core pornography reading of 50 Shades of Grey, the latest book,¬†Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey¬†will fulfill that need. If you are looking for true insight into Christian Grey’s character it looks like you won’t get that out of the book.
