Video: Amy Poehler and Seth Reunite for ‘Really’ – Rip Apart Andy Benoit from Sports Illustrated
Amy Poehler and Seth Reunite for a New Really!?! on Late Night with Seth Meyers on June 24, 2015 where they spent more than four minutes ripping apart Sports Illustrated writer, Andy Benoit, who made the mistake of tweeting a derogatory comment about women sports.
Meyers introduced the segment by telling the audience about a tweet that was sent to Andy Benoit saying, “And here some people, (ahem Andy Benoit) argue that women’s soccer isn’t worth watching.” Benoit replied to the comment with a tweet of his own saying,
“Not women’s soccer. Women’s sports in general not worth watching.”
With the help of a brown haired, Amy Poehler, Seth and Amy went off on Benoit. Amy began by responding to Benoit’s comment that women’s sports in general is not worth watching by telling Benoit, “I think a lot of people would like to hear you say that to Serena Williams.”
The funny duo went on to compare the women’s soccer winning goal against Germany to watching a men’s golfing match, asking ‘which is more interesting to watch.’
Poehler then said she wasn’t surprised that Benoit worked for Sports Illustrated since the magazine dedicated entirely to women that aren’t in sport, “unless you think it’s a sport to cover both boobs with one arm.”
A great question was asked, “Why is women’s World Cup on secondary channels like Fox Sports 1. No one watches Fox Sports 1. No one can find it.”
While not a lot compares to a LeBron James dunk, Poehler pointed out there are a lot of similarities between LeBron James and women. They both wear headbands, women love to trouble and much like LeBron in the finals, we often find ourselves asking, ‘hey can I get some help around here.’
Finally, Amy closed with no more tweeting Benoit. You’re too stupid.
Support women in sports and be sure to watch the US Women’s World Cup match with USA Vs.China on 7:30pm on the Fox Network.
