America’s Got Talent Recap 7/28/15 – Judges’ Cut 3 – Season 10
On tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent the judges will be going through the third portion of Judges’ Cut rounds. They’ll essentially be reviewing all of the contestants that they’ve sent through to this round and determining who will stay and move on to the live shows at Radio City Music Hall and who will be heading home.
As always, host Nick Cannon will be joined by judges Howard Stern, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and former Spice Girl Mel B. In addition, they’ll be joined by guest judge Marlon Wayans.
Tonight the judges will be watching 20 acts, but only 7 can make it through. And Marlon Wayans will have the opportunity to use the Golden Buzzer!
And we’re off!
Contestant: Triple Threat
Talent: Singing Group
Performance Notes: Oh these guys are awesome! They did an Ariana Grande medley and it was phenomenal – as far as I’m concerned. Mel said they’re “so likeable” and they’re a group she wants to see do well. Marlon said he thought it was awesome. Howard, however, said what my husband and I had been discussing – they don’t exactly fit the boyband mold aesthetically.
Contestant: Animation Crew
Talent: Dance Troupe
Performance Notes: This. Was. So. Cool! It must have been ridiculously difficult to choreograph this – but it paid off. The audience was chanting to “send them through” – but will Marlon do it?! Heidi said she loved it, while Howard commended them on a great job. Marlon didn’t use the Golden Buzzer, but said they did a great job, while Mel said she was “thoroughly entertained.”
Talent: Hand Balancing
Performance Notes: While this is certainly impressive, it isn’t my favorite act in the competition. Alexie performs his routine with a headless mannequin (balancing on the neck), and all of the judges declared that it’s “weird”… but that doesn’t mean they don’t like it.
Performance Notes: Johnny did a rendition of one of my FAVORITE songs ever – “House That Built Me” by Miranda Lambert. And he did a phenomenal job! Each of the judges told him that he did an amazing job… except for Mel B., who garnered a ton of boos from the audience when she said she felt he was “a bit pitchy” and that there was a disconnect.
Performance Notes: This act was charming and funny, and while I didn’t love it – Marlon apparently did because he used his Golden Buzzer on it!
Performance Notes: On his last appearance on the show Oz was able to identify a thought Mel had – which was quite specific and ridiculous… will he be able to do it again? Yup, yup he can – it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. My mind is blown. Marlon absolutely wasted his Golden Buzzer opportunity.
