Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s divorce was a long time coming, according to the couple’s close friends. The only surprise was how long it took to actually happen. 10 years of marriage and three beautiful children later, along with millions of dollars at stake and the couple have called it quits.

It wasn’t an easy decision. Before the couple fell in love on the set of Daredevil, Ben Affleck was heavy into gambling, drinking and his love life was a train wreck, a term he himself used to describe his love life and dating history, back in the day.

It seemed as though Jennifer Garner came along at the perfect time. Only months after the very public romance between, ben and jen where Ben called off the wedding, the couple met and Garner was the women who could tame Ben. Or she they both hoped. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Ben couldn’t be tamed. His gambling continued, with the Hard Rock Hotel even banning the actor from gambling at their hotel because he counted cards. Allegations of his roving eye were also rampant, with names like Blake Lively, Emily Ratajkowski and now Margot Robbie being thrown into the mix.

According to People Magazine, the breaking point was when Affleck recently came to Garner “and told her he had not been committed to the marriage within the past few years.” This despite telling the world during an Oscar speech in 2013, that marriage was work. He later clarified that there was no one he would rather work with in a marriage than Garner.

Despite the “work,” the allegations of infidelity, which Affleck denies, and the drinking and gambling, took their toll on the marriage.

Jennifer loved Ben but at some point she had to put herself and her children first and take care of herself.

The couple remain united when it comes to co-parenting their three kids, Violet, 9, Seraphina, 6, and Sam, 3 and went to the Bahamas when the divorce announcement was made.
