Cancer Survivor and Survivor Winner Ethan Zohn Engaged To Be Married
Ethan Zohn won “Survivor,” beat cancer and won the hearts of America and now, the inspirational reality star is engaged. Zohn, 41 announced via People that he is engaged to girlfriend, Lisa Heywood, a New York City interior designer. Fans may remember that he was dating Jenna Morasca, a fellow “Survivor” competitor. She was there when he was diagnosed initially in 2009 with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The duo dated for ten years before calling it quits, which shocked many who loved watching them together and admired how strong Jenna stayed for her love.
They first started dating in 2003 but ended it in 2013 with a statement to E! News: “It is with much consideration and a heavy heart that we are announcing that after 10 years of a loving relationship, the decision was made to move on without each other. We will carry with us the memories of a relationship grounded in love, laughter, support and friendship. We have experienced some of life’s greatest joys and toughest challenges together, and our decision to be apart can never diminish that. We want to thank everyone for their support and we ask that our privacy be respected as we move forward.”
By this time, Zohn was on his second bout with cancer and no one saw the split coming. That same year, he received stem cells from his family in order to live and believes that those cells are the reason that he went onto meet Lisa, 47, as they continued to share with People: “This is the reason I survived cancer twice … to meet Lisa and start a beautiful and healthy new life together.” They have been together for two years before the proposal. Zohn made the proposal super sweet by using the engagement ring that his father gave to his mom but altering it a touch with his own design. Clearly, the sentimental value worked because she said yes. Now, my question is: how is Jenna feeling about all of this? Two years have gone by but does she ever wonder if that ring could have been hers? Let us know what you think.
