Giuliana Rancic Knew She Was Leaving E! News Back in 2012

By on July 9, 2015

It may seem like somewhat of a shock for fans an viewers of Giuliana Rancic as she has announced that she will be departing E! News come August. This is around the same time that Rosie Perez will be leaving her seat on “The View.” Ooooh, that’s where Rancic can go! But in all seriousness, this departure from E! News is not a shock for those who have followed Rancic’s anchoring career. Back in the summer of 2012, Giuliana and Andy Cohen from Bravo did a conference call in regards to hosting the Miss USA Pageant. During the call, which I was on, Giuliana did reveal that she had three years left on her contract so that would put her to, well, now.

So, this is not just a shotgun decision. Many thought that she would depart her post after the whole “Fashion Police” and Zendaya debacle where she said that the singer/actress looked like she smelled of “patchouli” and “weed” which outraged Zendaya, feeling it was a racist jab. Rancic openly apologized then later confirmed that it was actually a scripted line though the “Fashion Police” went on hiatus but will return in the Fall. Giuliana will return as a co-host and will also appear at Red Carpet events but as for being a news anchor, that ship has sailed.

It is kind of interesting, the timing and all as in the same conference call where Giuliana revealed when her contract would end, she also talked about how great it was to work with Donald Trump. He has since been ex-communicated from the pageant world upon racist remarks but it was his show “The Apprentice” that launched Giuliana’s husband Bill Rancic. As for who will take her spot, Catt Sadler would be the prime candidate since Ali Fedotowsky has left the show as well. There will be amount a month gap where we won’t see Rancic but rest-assured, she will still be around and better than ever. Will you miss seeing her nightly or are you ready for a change? Let us know!
