Hulk Hogan and the WWE have parted ways. Who fired whom is a mystery since both sides are claiming they fired each other.

The problems began when Hogan’s sex tape was set to be leaked today, July 24, 2015, where Hogan went on a rant using the N word. In addition, a radio interview from 2012 has also emerged where Hogan used the word repeatedly.

In the clip, the DJ and Hogan discuss an incident where Booker T, another famous wrestler, called Hogan a “n*gger” on live TV. Hogan then went on to say a lot of his rapper friends would always call him the n-word. And while Hogan is famous for using the term ‘brother,’ once his friends started calling him the N-word, he felt comfortable using the word himself. He said that his friends told him he couldn’t use the word. Hogan claimed he couldn’t understand why they could use it on him but he couldn’t say it to them. Since this was in 2012 and nothing ever came of this conversation, what sparked the controversy?

It seems in the sex tape that Hogan is currently suing Gawker over the release of it, you can hear Hulk Hogan is speaking about his daughter, Brooke Hogan, dating a black man. In the tape, Hogan is heard saying, “we are all a little racist.” He also reportedly said:

“I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, f*cking n*ggers. But then when it comes to nice people and sh*t, and whatever. I mean, I’d rather if she was going to f*ck some n*gger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall n*gger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player.”

The WWE released a statement regarding Hulk Hogan no longer working with them saying,

“WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

Hogan claims to have resigned from the WWE. He tweeted this morning:

“In the storm I release control, God and his Universe will sail me where he wants me to be, one love. HH.”

Hogan isn’t the only one making the headlines discussing race. Nicki Minaj also went on a rant this week when she didn’t get nominated for the VMA’s Video of the Year. She ultimately blamed it on being a black and white thing. She explained her position on her rant during an interview on Good Morning America this morning. Hogan has worked with the WWE when it was the WWF, dating back to the 1980’s. He holds the record for the longest-reigning champion of the 1980s, and holds two of the ten longest title runs in WWF/E history.

It is sad the relationship had to end on a bad note since Hogan has been with the WWE forever.

What do you think about Hulk Hogan resigning/being fired and using the n word? Is it ever appropriate to use the racial slur?
