Newscasters Josh Elliot and Liz Cho Get Married – Sam Champion Officiates
Former Good Morning America co-host turned NBC Sports’ newscaster, Josh Elliott and his girlfriend, Liz Cho, also a news anchor, were married on Saturday, July 11 in California.
Elliot, had a bromance on Good Morning America with weatherman Sam Champion, who officiated the wedding ceremony.
Elliot and Cho dated for two years before getting engaged while on vacation in Europe last summer.
The wedding was small and intimate with close family and friends, including Sam Champion, Tory Johnson of GMA Deals and Steals and Bill Ritter, who is a co-anchor with Liz Cho. Johnson posted a photo on Twitter congratulating the couple and saying,
Magical wedding of stunning @LizCho7 + @JoshElliott32, led by teary @@SamChampion.
Sam’s teary eyes were pointed out on several occasions by Johnson, who also posted a photo of Champion officiating the ceremony with the caption, “Best-ever officiant @SamChampion was teary throughout! ❤️”
Elliot and Cho met and dated while they both worked at ABC News.
Josh Elliot’s mother passed away three weeks ago and while the engaged couple considered postponing the wedding, they knew that Elliot’s mother would not have wanted them to. The couple honored his mother by leaving an empty seat for her during both the ceremony and the party.
Josh Elliot left Good Morning America suddenly, following a pay dispute. He left to go to the competing network, NBC, where he hasn’t been seen much. He will be covering Sunday Night Football in the fall. Cho continues to work at WABC-TV, where she remains and co-anchors weekday editions of “Eyewitness News.”
This is the second marriage for both Elliot and Cho. Cho was previously married to Evan Gottlieb from 2008 to 2012 and they have a daughter, Louisa. Elliott was previously married to Priya Narang. He has a daughter also, Sarina.
Congratulations to Josh Elliot and Liz Cho on their marriage. We wish the newscasters much happiness.
