Rosie Perez Officially Leaving “The View” So Who Will Take Over?
And another one bites the dust. Rosie O’Donnell parted ways with “The View” for the second time at the beginning of this year, not too long after her return. She attributed it to her health as she has a heart condition and a devastating divorce. O’Donnell did promise to come back from time to time but I have not seen her. Then, for “The Cosby Show” star Raven-Symone was announced as the new permanent co-host of the show, which added a young and diverse flair to the chat fest. Now, we can confirm that Rosie Perez is leaving her seat at “The View” come August after just one season on the show.
She and Nicolle Wallace joined moderator Whoopi Goldberg and O’Donnell for this new revamped season but Whoopi was out for a while with back problems and Perez was filming a movie while getting ready to be on Broadway with Jason Alexander. So, why is she officially dunzo this time? Executive Producer Bill Wolff released a statement on behalf of Perez: “Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show at the conclusion of this season to pursue full time her love for acting. Stepping into the role of talk show host at the same time she has been starring on Broadway has been incredibly impressive.
“And beyond being an enormously talented performer, Rosie is a dedicated advocate who has brought passion and insight to the panel every day. Rosie will always be a part of The View family, and we will welcome her back as a guest anytime to catch up. We’ll plan a proper send off for her in a few weeks, but in the meantime, please join me in thanking her for her great work on the show.” This makes me very sad but I will be watching her August 6th send-off and wish her nothing but the best. As for who will replace her? That is still up in the air and honestly, I do not know who I would want to see on the panel going forward. Maybe it is time to just let it go. Meghan McCain would be a great addition so maybe we can call her or Caitlyn Jenner, whom Raven loves. We shall see!
