The View Nicolle Wallace Fired – ABC Can’t Find Good Hosts
It looks like another co-host on The View has been axed.
After just one season with the struggling day-time talk show, Nicolle Wallace will not be returning to The View next season, according to Variety.
Wallace was brought on to bring controversy. As the former communications chief for George W. Bush, she had an overwhelming knowledge of politics. Unfortunately, her lack of celebrity
knowledge just may be what did her in. Knowing this, Wallace showed her Kardashian knowledge to the audience during the show on Thursday, telling the audience not to ever question her knowledge of the Kardashian family.
While Wallace turned out to be a bit of a bore, her political knowledge will definitely be needed with the Presidential election coming up.
There is no denying there are major issues over at The View. With the co-host table becoming a revolving door over the past several years, the one constant has been Whooping Goldberg.
Also stepping down as co-host is Rosie Perez, who announced last week she’s leaving the show to pursue acting opportunities. Rosie O’Donnell, who was also a co-host this season, exited the show in February, citing stress and health concerns. Although a divorce and bitter custody battle might be the real reason for her exit.
With the ratings down 16 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period in 2014, the show needs to do something and fast. Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd are starting to look a lot better right about now. They were fired from The View last year, along with the exit of Joy Behar and Barbara Walters, it has been a bumpy ride for the talk show, unlike it’s top competitor, The Talk, whose ratings have climbed since last year.
The View will begin a new season in September with a panel that includes returning moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Raven Symone, comedian Michelle Collins (who was announced on Monday) and two other yet-to-be-announced names.
In talks for the open positions is Candace Cameron-Bure, who could take on the role of “The View’s” conservative expert. The actress has impressed producers as a fill-in host by offering strong opinions and her ability to generate controversy on social media is overwhelming. Other names being tossed into the mix are model, Molly Sims, Sherri Shepherd, and stylist Stacy London.
What do you think about Wallace leaving the show. What does ABC need to do to get their act together? Who do you think they could bring on at this point to save the show? Leave a comment and let us know. This revolving door has become a source of embarrassment for ABC. Maybe it’s time they viewers weighed in to tell them who to hire and what it is they want to hear.
