Why did Alexander Skarsgard Show Up Dressed as a Woman to Premiere of ‘Diary of a Teenage Girl’
Alexander Skarsgard surprised fans when he showed up in drag for the red carpet premiere of ‘The Diary Of a Teenage Girl’ at Castro Theatre on August 3, 2015 in San Francisco, California. Wearing a gold floor length gown, with Farrah Fawcett type hair, he also wore major makeup with red lipstick and false eyelashes.
In Diary of a Teenage Girl, Skarsgård plays Monroe, a 35-year-old man who is dating Chloe (Kristen Wiig) and later begins an affair with her 15-year-old daughter Minnie (Powley).
While Skarsgård didn’t speak about why he was dressed in drag for the premiere, some are saying it was to honor his co-star in the film Joshua Grannell, a drag performer named Peaches Christ who plays a transvestite in the film. Skarsgård played a transvestite in the 2006 Swedish film Kill Your Darlings. Maybe he was just trying to grab our attention? He had our attention either way. His usual gorgeous self is enough to get everyone talking.
Skarsgard is currently dating Alexa Chung, who is known for her amazing choice in fashion. The British model and Alexander were rumored to be dating after being spotted together in New York early in 2015. The couple have since been spotted holding hands out and about in New York and were spotted in June holding hands during a visit to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens.
Alexander’s new film The Diary Of A Teenage Girl hits cinemas on Friday where he will not be wearing drag, but will play a man who falls for his girlfriend’s daughter, who happens to be the young age of 15.
What do you think of Skarsgard wearing drag to the premiere of Diary of a Teenage Girl and the real reason for the outfit?
