Being a celebrity, Winter walked the red carpet frequently and had to listen to the whispers and pretend she didn’t notice people staring at her size F breasts. A mere 5’1″ tall and a size F breasts was too much for the actress. Besides the emotional battle she felt and the nightmare of shopping and finding things that fit, Winter discussed the constant pain she had as a result of her breast size.

Ariel made the decision to have the surgery following a shopping excursion with her cousin. When she couldn’t find a bathing suit that fit and felt awful about herself, she knew it was time. Wanting to fit in with her friends and not be stared at or have to be completely covered up made the decision easier for the actress.

Winter no longer has a relationship with her mother, so she turned to her Modern Family co-workers to discuss the surgery. She revealed that her Modern Family mother, Julie Bowen was really supportive and understanding. Following the surgery, Sofia Vergara told her ‘Oh my God! I love them! They’re great!’ She said everyone on set “is really happy for me and has been super supportive. They understand I’ve been struggling with this for so many years.”

While most people would opt to hide the fact they had surgery, Ariel decided to share her story because she didn’t want people questioning why she looks so different.

She also believes there is some good that can come from telling her story. Winter had the surgery to better her life and her health. She also believes being open can benefit a lot of young girls.

What do you think about Ariel Winter having breast reduction surgery? Do you think 17 is too young?
