Rosie O’Donnell’s Daughter Leaves Home Again-Goes to Live With Birth Mom
Rosie O’Donnell is having a tough time of it lately. Only days after her daughter Chelsea was returned home by police, the teen has left again. This time she chose to live with the woman who gave birth to her 18 years ago.
Chelsea was reported missing by her mother on August 16. Rosie posted a plea for help on social media asking for help in locating her daughter who she claimed had an undisclosed mental illness and was in need of her medication. Chelsea was found in the home of Steven Sheerer, 25, a man she had met on Tinder. It was later reported that Sheerer had sent her at least one nude photo of himself. Chelsea hopped on a bus and went to stay with Sheerer in his mother’s home in New Jersey. When cops showed up at Sheerer’s home Chelsea was reported to have hidden in the attic. She then told police she wanted to stay there and not return home to her mother though she eventually went with them willingly.
Sheerer was arrested in connection with Chelsea’s disappearance though his attorneys plan on fighting the charges due to Tinder’s policy of separating users according to age. Sheerer claims he believed Chelsea was an adult.
Chelsea is now legally an adult. She turned 18 on Monday and chose to reunite with the woman who gave her up for adoption back in 1997. That woman, Deanna Micoley had been in touch with Chelsea recently and claimed that the adoption was illegal. She had been a drug addict and insisted that Chelsea’s father used that against her when placing Chelsea for adoption. She claims that she was in no state to give consent and blasted Rosie for taking her daughter. Rosie discounted the charges calling them a ploy for money and expressed disappointment that Deanna would go public with her story.
When Chelsea ran away Rosie said the adoption was not part of the issue and instead wrote it off to her daughter turning 18 along with issues stemming from mental illness. It looks now as if the adoption may have had a role. Deanna drove from Wisconsin on Monday, Chelsea’s 18th birthday, to pick up the daughter she has not seen in 18 years. Chelsea has returned with her to Wisconsin where she will live.
Rosie reportedly told Chelsea not to go and has cut her off financially. Her publicist released a statement saying, “Chelsea made a decision when she turned 18 that she wanted to go with her birth mother. This was her choice.”
There is no word about the state of Chelsea’s relationship with her other mother, Rosie’s ex-wife Kellie Carpenter, or her brothers and sisters.
