Taylor Swift Presents Kanye West Vanguard Award at VMA’s – He Admits to Smoking Something During Rambling Speech
In a turn of events no one saw coming, Taylor Swift presented Kanye West with the iconic Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at the 2015 Video Music Awards.
The singer proved once again what a good sport she is and there really are no hard feelings dating back to the incident at the Video Music Awards in 2009 where Kanye West stormed the stage during Swift’s acceptance speech for Video of the Year telling her, “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time.”
Swift used Kanye’s own words on him when she took the stage to present West with his award saying, “So I guess I have to say to all of the other winners tonight, I’m really happy for you and I’ma let you finish, but Kanye West has one of the greatest careers of all time.” Swift also revealed that West’s album College Dropout is the first album her brother and she had bought on iTunes when she was only 12 years old. She also joked the first time she met West was six years ago on stage at the VMA’s.
When Kanye took the stage he did his usual rambling and sometimes not making much sense, but also referred to the 2006 incident saying to Taylor,
“Thank you Taylor for giving me this award this evening. And I often think back to the first day I met you also. I think about when I’m in the grocery store with my daughter and I have a really great conversation about fresh juice, you know, and at the end they say, ‘Oh you’re not that bad after all. And I think about it sometimes — it crosses my mind a little bit like when I go to a baseball game, and 60,000 people boo me. It crosses my mind a little bit, and I think if I had to do it all again, what would I have done? Would I have drank that half a bottle of Hennesy and give the rest of the it to the audience? If I had a daughter at that time, would I have went on stage and grab the mic from someone else?”
He continued by talking about the effect his actions on the people and it was a contradiction to what he usually does and that is fight for artists. He admitted that in the that fight he was disrespectful to artists and he didn’t know how to say the right thing. That was proven during some of his rambling when he said he looked at Justin Timberlake lose at the Grammys and in tears and how he deserved to win Album of the Year. What he was trying to say was he questioned how he could lose?
West did admit to not understanding the awards shows outside of it’s all about the ratings but did question how five people (the nominees) who worked their entire life, are nominated for an award but still be considered a loser when they don’t win. He finished by saying, “I don’t understand it, bro, I’m conflicted, bro. I just wanted people to like me more. But f*ck that, bro.”
Kanye did warn us that 2015 was going to be about the art but he “ain’t always going to be polite.”
The reason for the insane rambling was because Kanye smoked something saying, “I rolled up a little something. I knocked the edge off.”
What do you think about what West’s ramblings?
