Arnold Schwarzenegger Replacing Donald Trump on Celebrity Apprentice
NBC has chosen Arnold Schwarzenegger to take over for Donald Trump on their hit show Celebrity Apprentice. Arnold may just be NBC’s answer to The Donald’s immigration comments. Trump believes immigration is one of the biggest problems facing America so who better than Ahnold, an immigrant himself.
Arnold began his career as a body builder before becoming an actor, marrying into the Kennedy family, and becoming governor of California. Like Trump, the Terminator star had his own marriage issues when it was discovered that he had fathered a child outside of his lengthy marriage to Maria Shriver.
NBC dumped Trump after he made controversial remarks when announcing his bid for the White House. He declared he was going to build a wall to stop illegal immigration and called some who came here rapists and drug dealers. He faced immediate backlash losing endorsement deals. The Miss USA pageant was in jeopardy when NBC refused to air it and then announced that they were firing Trump from the wildly popular show that raised millions of dollars for charity.
Many believed NBC was going to hire a minority, some of the names that were thrown around were Virgin’s Richard Branson and Shark Tank‘s Mark Cuban, both who claimed they were not interested.
When asked if he would ever consider returning to Apprentice, Trump responded, “Absolutely not,” and claimed that he was not fired but rather he dumped NBC to run for president.
While Trump is hoping to make America great again, NBC is looking to continue bringing in the ratings with their popular reality show. NBC President Paul Telegdy made the announcement saying, “We are thrilled to be opening a powerful new chapter in the story of the Apprentice franchise.” Calling Schwarzenegger the “epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business,” he expressed the network’s confidence in the ability to add a fresh face to the show.
No word yet on whether or not Schwarzenegger will be uttering the famous line, “You’re fired,” or if he will be altering it to, “You’re terminated.” The show set in NYC’s Trump Tower often highlights sweeping NYC landscapes. It doesn’t seem likely that Trump will be opening up his boardroom to the new host so it will be interesting to see if Celebrity Apprentice will be moving to a new city for its new host.
