Exclusive: Katie Holmes on Set of ‘All We Had’ Filming Over Labor Day Weekend
Katie Holmes is busy making her directorial debut and acting on the set of All We Had this Labor Day Weekend in Brooklyn, New York, where one of our fans from Have U Heard spotted her and was kind enough to send over a photo. Wearing little make-up and a short skirt with a tee and black shoe boots, Katie looked very happy, while speaking to a fan.
Katie is responsible for bringing the movie to the big screen as she optioned the novel last year. Katie has also been burning up the screen on the hit Showtime series, Ray Donovan, where she plays Paige Finney, a character who is exponentially darker than the innocent Joey Potter who Katie played on Dawson’s Creek, when she first emerged on the scene in Hollywood.
The movie, All We Had, is based on the book of the same name.
The movie is about thirteen-year-old Ruthie Carmichael (played by Stefania Owen) and her mother, Rita (played by Holmes) who despite Rita working multiple job, are on the edge of poverty. When their landlord kicks them out, Rita uses her looks and finds herself a boyfriend, who takes them in.
Ruthie convinces her mother to leave and they head East in search of a better life. When the car breaks down and no money, they find themselves stranded in a small town called Fat River where their luck finally takes a turn. Rita lands a steady job waitressing at the local diner. With enough money to pay their bills, they rent a house and Fat River becomes the first place they call home. Peter Pam, a transgender waitress, becomes Ruthie’s closest friend. Arlene, the no-nonsense head waitress, takes Rita under her wing. The townspeople become Ruthie and Rita’s family. Soon Rita is faced once again with the prospect of homelessness and Rita reverts to survival mode. The price she pays to keep them out of poverty sets her and Ruthie on a course that will change their lives forever.
Does this sound like a movie you would like to see? What do you think about Katie’s look?
