This week’s news (in no particular order) has been about the GOP Debate, America Got Talent’s Season Finale and The View co-host Joy Behar dissing nurses everywhere when she made fun of Miss Colorado for wearing her nurse’s uniform and stethoscope during the talent portion of the Miss USA competition.

"Joy Behar leaving The View"

Following Joy Behar’s comment on The View there was public outrage with viewers boycotting the show and refusing to watch it. Following the outrage, Behar apologized to viewers saying she “was not paying attention” to the overall situation and assumed Johnson was wearing a costume. She stated,

“I was looking at a Miss America tape, and there’s a woman wearing an outfit with a stethoscope, and I’m thinking is she in a costume? I didn’t know she was a nurse. I’m used to seeing them in gowns and bathing suits. It’s not like I was trying to be funny. It was just stupid and inattentive on my part. I didn’t know what the hell I was talking about. My son-in-law is a physician assistant, one of my nieces is a nurse, so I mean I know they use stethoscopes, I just was not paying attention.”

Miss America CEO Sam Haskell III accepted Behar’s apology saying, “it was the right thing to do.”

“Kelley used the talent portion of the Miss America competition to share her passion about a special story experienced through her job. I am glad that Michelle and Joy apologized.”

Unfortunately, it may be too little too late. The advertisers don’t seem to care that Joy Behar apologized. Pulling out of airing any commercials during The View are Party City, Eggland’s Best, Johnson & Johnson and Snuggle. We are talking millions of dollars in revenue has been lost.

The powers that be over at ABC are not happy with the loss in revenue. Will they decide how they are going to recoup the lost revenue, will they consider the possibility of suspending or firing Joy Behar for her the statement she made against nurses everywhere? At what point will people be able to forgive the talk show host? The CEO of the Miss America pageant is able to forgive her can the American public forgive her? The View hosted a show for nurses, maybe they should consider having Miss Colorado on the show to forgive them? Will that help? Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts on the subject.

Anyone else getting tired of the public beheading of people? People make mistakes all the time and some people (cough cough Donald Trump) say things and the public moves past it. For some reason others say something and we need to see them pay for it and aren’t happy until they are on the chopping block.

We have the video that sparked all the controversy on the next page. Check it out!!

Quite frankly, I’m tired of everyone making nasty and hurtful comments about anything they feel like commenting on. Then, after they come under fire there is always an insincere apology that they assume will make it all go away. Once you’ve opened your big mouth, or sent out your unsolicited opinion on twitter, it’s too late. Stop the nasty comments. Learn to keep your mouth shut if you have nothing nice to say. No one is interested in your opinion. You’re not as important as you think you are.

Everything they talk about on the view Joy tries to make a joke out of it. She is the Joke. You can’t go back to what you were she is so out of touch. Nicole Wallace is much better to bad she had to leave, she was refreshing and has new views. She may be Barbara’s best buddy but…………..

Joy Behar simply made an attempt to cover her ass after being highly offensive. It would appear that she is clearly out of touch with the American people thus she has no place in the public eye where current events are discussed.

Ms. Behar will be glad to know that despite how insulted Nurses may be, THEY are professionals and will treat her with dignity and respect if she were to require their aid.

When a woman stands up in front of other young women and presents her talent as becoming an educated professional that cares and serves the needs of others and at the same time allows her to have a lifelong career that will provide for her and her family for years to come, she is a role model in my eyes. I am not a nurse but found the comments to be incredibly inappropriate and demeaning to women. The problem is, the View’s first apology was more of an insult that an apology. They often come across more like the mean girls lunch table than a panel of real women just talking about current events. It makes these apologies are hard to believe. And let’s not forget that this is a paid position for these woman and if this carelessness was an accidental race joke or homosexual joke they would have been canned the same day. It is their job to know what they are talking about. I think “The View” executives can find better talent and should do so. This kind of careless insensitivity is not what most of us woman want to tune into.
