Chris Rock has officially been announced as the new host of the 2016 Academy Awards show and if you know the actor/comedian, no one is safe. With all that has been going on in the world like Presidential debates, Kardashian drama and so much more, the question begs: who will be off-limits by the time the show airs on Sunday, February 28th, 2016? This will be the second time that Rock will be the MC as he held the honor in 2005. He took to Twitter to share the great news: “Look who’s back.” Clearly, Chris is excited as he also had this to say: “I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars. It’s great to be back.” The announcement was made early this morning by show producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin, who spoke to E! via a statement: “Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian—he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”

As for the President of the Academy, Cheryl Boone Isaacs, she is just as excited as everyone else involved: “We share David and Reggie’s excitement in welcoming Chris, whose comedic voice has really defined a generation. He is certain to bring his amazing array of talents to this year’s show.” Many executives over at ABC chimed in to express how excited they were to have Rock as the host for next year and I can say that this will be very interesting. Chris Rock is definitely an unapologetic comedian and so much can happen between now and February that it will be a thrill just to see what he has to say in his monologue…who is safe and who will be off-limits.

Because this is a Hollywood awards show and not something like the Video Music Awards, Rock may just stick to celebrity drama but one never knows. Are you excited to see Rock back as the host or would you prefer someone else? We have had Ellen DeGeneres and Neil Patrick Harris in years prior but I have a feeling the world is ready to rock! See what I did there? Tune in for all the coverage when the 88th Academy Awards air live from Hollywood on February 28th, 2016.
