Kim Richards Speaks Out On Sobriety- Cashing In On Lamar Odom’s Trauma?
Kim Richards is speaking out about her sobriety and it could not come at a more interesting time. Amidst Lamar Odom and his overdose, Richards is saying that this is a “Good Time for Me Right Now.” But why is she speaking out at this moment? Could it be her family connection to the Kardashians? Remember, niece Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian were once besties and now it is Kim’s sister Khloe who is sticking by estranged husband Lamar’s side during, what appears to be a long road to recovery. He overdosed a little over a week ago at the Love Ranch in Las Vegas, a brothel which is now looking even sketchier and sketchier (read about owner Dennis Hof and his reactions to Lamar Odom’s scandal here). For a few years, Odom, 35, has been battling addiction to hard drugs while Richards has seemingly spent decades trying to overcome her demons with alcohol.
Kim took to good friend and former “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” co-star Brandi Glanville’s podcast “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” to discuss where she is now in her life. You may recall that the sister of Kathy Hilton was arrested for shoplifting from Target and resisting arrest after a drunken night out. Both Glanville and Richards have opted out of the upcoming season of RHOBH, to which Brandi said: “We were both saying it’s relaxing for us and we’re not so stressed out with everything that we would normally be stressed out with. We wake up with smiles on our face and we don’t have to deal with the drama.” That was echoed from Kim’s comments about her life as of now: “Everything is good…It’s a good time for me right now. I’m really happy things are going good.”
But not everything since leaving the show has been rainbows and sunshine, as Kim pointed out: “Well, not every day. It’s good. It’s better now. It was a rough time for a bit there but it’s just putting everything back in order and just really focusing on my family and me.” That includes ex-husband Monty, who is struggling to stay alive and her four children Brooke, Chad, Whitney and Kimberly. “Living in the present for me is just the best way and it’s the only way for me today. Realizing today is beautiful and I’m super grateful for right now and all who’s in it.” We hope that Richards can keep this mindset and keep herself out of trouble because as we all know, life is way too short. So, will Richards make a stop by the Kardashian/Jenner residence to offer help to Lamar and Khloe? Time will tell!
