“One Life to Live” star Nathaniel Marston has passed away at the tender age of forty. His mother made the heart-breaking announcement in the middle of the night, which broke the hearts of OLTL fans. Mother Elizabeth Jackson used social media outlet Facebook to confirm that her son had died in her arms: “It is with a heavy heart that I share this devastating news. My beloved and cherished son… who was putting up the good fight until last night was not able to continue due to the traumatic and devastating nature of his injuries. Nathaniel passed away peacefully as I held him in my arms.” The actor was in a car accident and was not wearing his seatbelt, leading him to be ejected from the car and sustained multiple injuries and broken bones, including neck and back. Prior to his passing, Marston’s mother had said that it appeared that her son would be paralyzed for the rest of his life, pending survival. The accident occurred on Friday, October 30th and he then went on to battle pneumonia, a heart infection and irregular pulse, sadly giving him the life of a quadriplegic. Is that really the life he would have wanted to lead?

The title of his former soap could not be more appropriate at this time when you stop and think about it. Elizabeth continued to write on Facebook that: “His injuries, which Dr.’s did their best to heal were not responding to treatment and one after another his bodily functions failed to support his life. Had Nathaniel lived he would have required a ventilator and would never have been able to utter one more word and would have been sentenced to life as a quadriplegic. A condition that Nate would have never have been able to tolerate. By Gods love and mercy Nathaniel was spared this living hell and has traveled on to be with God, his cherished Grandmother Mary Jackson, Grandfather John Jackson and my sister his Aunt Nora.” Memorials for Marston will be held in New York City, Kauai and Gerlach, Nevada and his mother says that she will update everyone as to the dates. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones and all the doctors who tried to save him.
