Miranda Lambert Wanted to Be Gwen Stefani When She Was Married to Blake Shelton
Maybe Miranda Lambert had a sixth sense or knew something that we didn’t before her divorce from Blake Shelton. The night of the CMA’s, where both Blake and Miranda were in attendance, it was confirmed that Blake and fellow “The Voice” coach Gwen Stefani were an item. Though Miranda has said that she is okay with the new relationship, it seems like she may have foreshadowed the whole set-up. Just one month before Lambert, 31 and Shelton, 39 divorced, Miranda took to the stage at Joe’s Bar in Chicago for some karaoke…and her song choice was, well, interesting. The 2015 CMA Female Vocalist of the Year chose to sing “Spiderwebs,” which was the song that launched Stefani’s band No Doubt twenty years ago.
Lambert co-sang the song with Gwen Sebastian who was on Team Blake at the beginning of the run of “The Voice” and sang his hit song “Sangria” alongside Blake last season. Sebastian has been a tour mate of Lambert’s and clearly a close friend to both of them. The question is: why this particular song by this particular artist? As we have mentioned in prior pieces, Lambert has started channeling her inner Gwen, like coming out with pink hair for the CMA’s and even can be seen in rocker wear during her karaoke performance. No comment from Stefani on the cover though that would be really cool if the two girls could be friends. As Gwen’s rep let the world know when she announced the new coupling of “Gwake,” Stefani and Shelton have been friends for years so it could have just been sung out of Gwen being an icon. Being the same age as Miranda, I remember when “Tragic Kingdom” came out and how much I loved the entire CD, including “Spiderwebs.” We have the footage of Miranda’s cover right here. Check it out and let us know what you think:
I think that Miranda definitely channeled her inner Gwen perfectly but now she may need a new go-to karaoke song. Just saying.
